On the northern edge of the village lies Chobham Common, one of the largest areas of heathland in Surrey. It is very valuable both as an amenity and as an area of outstanding wildlife interest. The Common has been recognised as one of the finest examples of lowland heath in Europe - in 1994 it was designated a National Nature Reserve.
