Objective

To investigate:

• the location of previous buildings, particularly the site of the Abbot of Chertsey's medieval house and Henry VIII's house
• the levels of nearby streams and how water may have flowed on the site and hence the site of the lost moat(s)
• the garden's historical landscaping
• the accuracy of Manning & Bray's description of the site
• the age and history of the present house
• the possible Roman road from Chertsey to Chobham through the site
• a possible early Bronze-age burial site
